Dusty and Charlotte had a western wedding ceremony before a large congregation, followed by a traditional Korean wedding ceremony called a Paebaek and finally an after party at a nearby venue. Charlotte’s father is the lead pastor at Fullerton Presbyterian church, so in addition to their immediate friends and family, the entire congregation was present to support Dusty and Charlotte.
Following the large ceremony was a Paebaek, which begins with the groom’s parents seated on cushions behind a table in front of a painted screen, with the newlyweds opposite them. The newlyweds perform a deep bow which begins standing and ends with the newlyweds pressing their foreheads to their hands while kneeling on the floor. Traditionally, the groom’s parents will throw chestnuts into a blanket held by the bride and groom. The chestnuts symbolize how many children the couple will have. Naturally, Charlotte’s father threw several handfuls of chestnuts… 🙂
After the Paebaek, we switched locations for the after party, which ultimately turned into fun dance party.
