Camp Westwind Wedding Photos
Camp Westwind is a very special place. I probably mentioned that Rob and Kristie at least seven times with great enthusiasm during our first phone conversation! Camp Westwind is a beautiful mix of striking Oregon coastline, green forests and panoramic vistas. Quite simply, this is the ideal place to document this beautiful couple. It’s also a great place to throw a weekend wedding party with your closest friends and family!
I shot my first wedding at Camp Westwind back in 2009 and I had wanted to return to Camp Westwind ever since. Amazingly, Rob and Kristie found that same blog post on a google search! I was stoked to say the very least when they confirmed the booking.
To get to the campsite is an adventure in itself: You start by crossing a river on a barge only when the tide is right. You then hike through a bit of forest and eventually you arrive at the main lodge. It’s such a satisfying feeling when you get there and walk onto the beach for the first time.
As for Rob and Kristie, from the beginning they were beyond kind, generous and considerate. They arranged a carpool from the airport in Portland with some of their friends and they even offered me the invitation to bring a plus one! Even better, their friends and family embraced me as one of their own as soon as I met them. People didn’t even realize I was the photographer until I busted out the cameras! Best of all, everyone shared my enthusiasm of being at such a beautiful spot. We all had an appreciation for the beautiful environment, which really made for a better experience for everyone.
From our pre-wedding hike, to their hilarious officiant (aka The Dude) to their ring-bearing dog, Dingo, (aka the “Ding” bearer), Rob and Kristie’s wedding was an absolute blast to photograph. Guys, thank you SO MUCH for sharing this experience with me. You and your family/friends are awesome and I could not have asked for a better experience. I am eternally grateful!
This event was lovingly coordinated by Elise Handler of Keen Events and the florals were arranged by Katherine Gidlow of Blue Floral Company. Both did exceptional work!
