| WHY ARE YOU A PHOTOGRAPHER? |
| I am a photographer first and foremost because I need to be a part of an inspiring community. Growing up, I was a very shy kid. I was always the quiet one who did not have many friends. I also had divorced parents, we lost our home, my school closed down and my father was gone throughout much of this tumultuous time. There was all this of negativity throughout so much of my childhood and it took many years to get over it. Things changed for me when I went to USC because, for the first time in my life, I felt like a part of something significant. I was accepted into The Trojan family. There was a common goal to to support our team and to support each other! When I interned at Getty Images in 2008, the common goal was to make nice photographs! Finally, when covering a couple's wedding, the goal is to create photographs that make us FEEL something. I have to be a part of these communities for fear that I'll go back to becoming that vulnerable kid. I pour so much emotion and love into my work and, as a result, I have cultivated very strong relationships with my clients. For me they are extended family and a source of inspiration. My heart is wide open to any couple or client who is willing to accept me into their community, because there is no greater honor than being invited to photograph people when they are most open and uninhibited. |
